There are forces of change (e.g., retiring Baby Boomers, working remotely, cloud computing, online learning, transportation moving to electric, government regulation of AI) that Autodesk believes have the potential to significantly impact our customers and our business in the next 10 years.
The strategy process at Autodesk includes the development of Strategic Intent plans wherein industry teams (e.g., AEC, PD&M, M&E) or horizontal teams (e.g., platform, education) consider a three-to-five-year horizon in their planning. Using the intent plans as a guide, the teams then create Strategic Realization plans that reflect capabilities that will be implemented in one year. The process is repeated each year so that the set of capabilities evolve from year to year.
Considering the forces of change in the planning cycle helps align that capability evolution with the changes that significantly impact our customers and our business. Considering a 10-year focal length helps ensure that capabilities offered in year one have a higher probability of evolving into capabilities that will be needed in year ten.
