Last week, Autodesk made changes to our single sign-on login process that is used for a variety of Autodesk communities such as Autodesk Labs and Autodesk Beta. Users will notice that there is now a 2 step process for accessing the Autodesk Feedback Community site which is home to Labs technology previews and the Autodesk Beta programs.

I have received several emails regarding the change. Here is my response to one of them:
Thank you for contacting us. Trust me when I say that I log into the Feedback community for Autodesk Labs probably more than anyone else alive. It’s part of my job. I too have to endure the two-step process. This change was made to make the Autodesk Labs and Beta programs consistent with the other Autodesk offerings. So the natural question is, “Why do they all now require more mouse movement, an extra click, and a slower process with more work for the user?” Actually, we’re not alone in separating out the user name step from the password step. Google has done the same thing. Companies are doing this because entering the user name separately allows the workflow to be integrated with other processes. There are situations where companies will integrate their login processes into our services. Hence when those users type in their login names, the domain will be checked, and if there is an integration, they will not be asked for their passwords because they have already been authenticated via a different process. So as bad as this is for you and me right now, it is actually better for a whole bunch of other users. The problem with the Feedback Community right now is that the “Stay signed in” feature needs some work on our side to make that work. We need that so we don’t have to do the new two-step process so often. I hope we have that fixed next week.
As you can see in my response, our last piece of the puzzle is getting the "Stay signed in" capability to work. We have a meeting tonight to work out a plan. Stay tuned.

I am not a dancer myself, so this is as close to the Texas two-step as I get.
