Project Scorch is our free technology preview that helps you perform fire simulations within a structure. Project Scorch uses the National Institute of Standards and Technology Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) to understand fire behavior within a building, such as smoke development and propagation, sprinkler behavior, and more. Project Scorch is intended as a more efficient and easier-to-use front-end for FDS from simulation setup and results exploration. Is that the case? You tell us.
On the same day that Project Dalton was extended to August 2, 2015, Project Scorch was also extended to August 2, 2015. Coincidence? Perhaps Project Scorch had technology preview extension envy? Actually it wasn't that. Both teams wanted to allow more time for users to continue providing feedback. Recall that we offer technology previews for free. All we ask is that you try them and tell us what you think.
For those who have yet to get in on the action or existing participants who want to get the new build that extends the technology preview:
Thanks to the Autodesk Labs Community that makes technology previews possible. We really are on the fence with these technologies. They are not a lock. If that were the case, we'd go straight to beta. Your experience as expressed by your feedback shapes the future of our technology.
Leveraging the process for a second time is alive in the lab.
