Design Night is an event series at the Autodesk Gallery held on the first Thursday of each month. At each event, guests explore a different theme – such as biomimicry, light, or robotics — that challenges the conventionally narrow definition of design. We endeavor to reflect the Design Night theme in all aspects of the event, from the activities guests enjoy, to the food they eat, to the music they hear. The result is a fun and fascinating venue for exploration, networking, and the exchange of ideas.
On Thursday, February 5, 6-10 p.m., the Autodesk Gallery will host Design Night: Art in motion, where we will explore how design technology is transforming animation.
Ever since people first painted on cave walls, telling visual stories that depict motion, time and space have been integral to human communication. From the Magic Lantern to the Zoetrope to reality capture and photoreal cartoons, animation in all its forms has excited and delighted audiences the world over. And with today's technology, artists are finding new ways to tell visual stories and enthrall us. Reignite your childhood wonder inspired by animation at Design Night where you'll experience:
- A talk by Patrick Osborne, Director of Feast, Walt Disney Animation Studios
- DIY animation with fabulous flip books
- And much more!
