Autodesk has been pitching cloud computing. In fact we refer to it as infinite computing. We have the servers. You subscribe to A360 and our cloud-based solutions. We have a technology preview where the EnergyPlus software runs in the cloud instead of on your desktop. The result is better performance. You can tell us if this is true or not.

Project EnergyPlus Cloud is our free technology preview for running EnergyPlus simulations in the cloud faster than on an average desktop computer. EnergyPlus is the most advanced whole building energy simulation program that engineers, architects, and researchers use to model energy and water use in buildings. EnergyPlus is widely used for high performance building design, code compliance, and evaluation of advanced energy efficiency measures. The project goals include: providing rapid analysis results for EnergyPlus annual simulations by several times faster than desktop simulations and managing the EnergyPlus run process in the cloud without requiring any local computing resources.
Recently the team updated the servers that supplies the functionality. Here is how Principal Engineer for Building Performance Analysis, Krishnan Gowri, described the update.
EnergyPlus Cloud has been updated with an Application Programming Interface (API) to submit simulation input files and obtain results by directly interacting with the cloud service using RESTful methods. Advanced users and application developers can use the attached documentation and sample client code to start using this API.
Users can submit multiple input files (zipped IDF/EPW files) in one single submission and receive automatic notifications of simulation results as they become available. Please note that users need to have access to an internet port that can be made available to receive the notifications.
We will be collecting feedback on the technology until February 28, 2015.
Thanks Krishnan.
