The Autodesk Gallery at One Market in San Francisco celebrates design — the process of taking a great idea and turning it into a reality. With more than 20 different exhibits regularly on display that showcase the innovative work of Autodesk customers, the gallery illustrates the role technology plays in great design and engineering. I am one of about 80 gallery ambassadors. We chose the job title "ambassador" instead of "docent," because the correct way to address an ambassador is "your excellency" yet this never happens.
Though the biggest, the Gallery at One Market is not our only gallery. For example, we also have one at our Lake Oswego office. With multiple locations, we often rotate exhibits among our galleries. This gives each exhibit a wider audience and provides return visitors with something new. We recently had temporary galleries in Paris and Las Vegas. The exhibits from the road trip are now making their way back to San Francisco. Grace Hom, Marketing Programs Manager for the gallery, recently shared this:
I wanted to provide an update as we have some exciting new exhibits that will be heading our way post-AU! The Gallery exhibit development team has been hard at work from Paris to Las Vegas, and now back to San Francisco, and next week they will be unloading and planning to install these exhibits over the course of the next few weeks. Senior Exhibit Designer, Paula Commerford, noted that the new exhibits include:
- 3D printed speakers
- Insecta lamp mechanical sculpture
- Smoke dress
- 3D printed ceramics
- Algorithmically designed chairs
- Generative design medical implants
Thanks, Grace and Paula.
