My Favorites of My Blog Posts of 2014

Between Beyond the Paper and It's Alive in the Lab, I have had a blog post every business day since February 14, 2006. I'm like the Cal Ripken of blogging. Normally I write about new, updated, retired, or graduated technology previews on Autodesk Labs. Blogging is a way to spread the word about a technology to encourage potential users to try the preview. It's part of my job. For my first two years of blogging, I pretty much covered just the technologies and nothing else. I did this because:

• I didn't think my life was that interesting.
• I figured a typical Autodesk customer couldn't care less about what that Scott Sheppard guy did apart from Autodesk Labs.

Then one day our CEO told me "You know Scott, if you're going to blog, people kind of want to feel like they're hanging out with you." Not that this immediately changed my feelings on those two bullet points above, but it did get me to share more of my personality on my blog. I started using every bad pun possible and covered non-work-related topics. So in the spirit of blog posts that are not the run-of-the-mill technology preview announcements, here are my favorites for 2014.
