Project Carbon is our Autodesk Labs project to collect feedback on the Vectorize It application. Vectorize It is an iPad application that converts images to vector drawings, making it easy to create CAD files that you can open using AutoCAD 360 mobile or send as DXF/SVG vector files via email. Vectorize It is available for download via the Apple Store.
Vectorize It is based on Raster to Vector conversion algorithms. A one click process generates the initial vector solution that you can fine tune by adjusting image brightness/contrast and edge detection threshold. This approach offers a really simple way to create CAD drawings from images. With Vectorize It you can capture sketches, diagrams, or even physical objects with your iPad camera and automatically generate vector drawings.

Now that's a handy way to do a factory layout.
You can get started yourself by downloading Vectorize It from the Apple store and joining the Project Carbon project on Autodesk Labs. The Autodesk Research.IL group would love to hear from you regarding your experience with Vectorize It. You can reach the team at [email protected].
