The Lighting Analysis Extension for Revit with Daylighting for LEED lets you leverage the Rendering cloud service in Autodesk 360 to perform very fast and physically accurate daylighting analysis from within Revit. Rendering in Autodesk 360 is an extremely fast cloud service that recently exposed illuminance results that are comparable to Radiance with the exception of one aspect — speed. The Rendering cloud service accounts for all light bounces and is about 24x to 1000x faster than Radiance.
Normally we don't share our future plans; however, here's what's supposed to happen with this technology.
The current technology preview of the Lighting Analysis Extension for Revit 2014 with Daylighting for LEED will be available until May 15, 2014 — today. The plug-in install will expire, as in stop working, at that time.
To get additional feedback, a technology preview update of the technology preview should be available on May 19, 2014. We recognize that we will not be able to solicit feedback during the interim.
Based on the feedback received to date, our plans include next steps at the end of the technology preview.
As always, things can change, but that's the plan.
Planning is alive in the lab.
