Research Scientist, Michael Glueck, of Autodesk Research’s Environment & Ergonomics Research Group, has been chosen to receive the Best Student Paper in the HCI track at this year’s Graphics Interface Conference. Mike’s paper, "A Model of Navigation for Very Large Data Views," was done in collaboration with Professor Daniel Wigdor at the University of Toronto, where Mike is currently pursuing his Ph.D. degree.
Mike’s work presents a theoretical performance model of zooming and panning strategies, which is particularly applicable to navigation within very large data sets. Mike’s award will be announced and presented at the conference banquet, which takes place this week in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Congratulations Michael.
