I work out of our office on One Market Street in San Francisco. My standup-desk is right across from our Gallery at One Market. One of our newer exhibits is called Powers of Design. It was first featured at the Technology Entertainment & Design (TED) conference last year. Powers of Design depicts the size of everything from the inconceivably small to the mind-blowingly large. I thought I'd cover the exhibit elements, one at a time, over the next few months. I started small and am working my way up.

Once thought to be flat, the center of the universe, or even sitting atop a giant tortoise, Earth continues to fascinate, surprise, and challenge us. The third planet from the sun, Earth is the fifth-largest of the eight planets in the solar system with a diameter of nearly 13,000 kilometers, as well as the densest.
Formed approximately 4.5 billion years ago, Earth will continue to support life for up to another 2.3 billion years. And the facts are endless, from species that have lived and died to civilizations built and crumbled. But rather than describe Earth with facts, we simply close by calling Earth what it is—home.
Earlier in the week, Autodesk participated in the Earth Day festivities on the first floor of the Landmark Building at One Market where we work. Visitors could assess their own carbon footprint.
Though the score for the average American is 27, mine was only 17. My Smart Car and the energy improvements I made to my home helped me score well. I lost points because I don't favor organic food because the farming process is not scaleable.
Surprise. Surprise. Earth Day also featured a protest in San Francisco.
Thanks to Global Content Manager, Matt Tierney, for the images and text that comprise the exhibit element. This is just one of the many exhibits in the gallery at One Market in San Francisco. The gallery is open to the public on Wednesdays from 12 pm to 5 pm, and admission is free. Visit us.
