We're making the leap to Bing.
Bada bing. Bada bang. The free technology preview of Project Basejump for AutoCAD Map 3D and AutoCAD Civil 3D software leverages a map service provider to get Bing Maps as a base layer into your designs. You can try it for yourself:
// Download Project Basejump from Autodesk Labs
So please try this technology and let us know how it works for you at [email protected] or the discussion forum. Act now! This one is a quickie. Our agreement with Microsoft is that we will have this technology preview on Labs until June 30. Your feedback determines what happens next.
So far, the reaction has been positive.
As part of using it, Technical Specialists manager, Gwenael Bachelot, of the Geospatial - Made in France blog, noted that we should change the Bing layers from the top position in the display manager to a down position, just on top of the Map Base. It is common for users to reorder their layers immediately after adding the Bing layers. Thanks for the suggestion Gwenael! This is the kind of feedback we are looking for and can consider it for future applications of the technology.
Freebasing (not that kind) is alive in the lab.
