At this time the LEICA CloudWorx tool is still an option until the time when perhaps we offer another technology preview. We are working with our contacts there to obtain some better end-user documentation.
Leica CloudWorx-VR: Point cloud plug-in for Autodesk 3ds Max and Autodesk Maya
Kubit also offers a potential solution. This may be good if you would like to avoid changing file formats. Although the tools are for purchase, Kubit does provide multiple modules to choose from which provide a different range in functionality and feature extraction.
