As a 51 year veteran of Mardi Gras in New Orleans, parades are nothing new to me. When the New Orleans Saints won the Super Bowl to claim the NFL championship, the parade that followed was much like Mardi Gras. There were floats. The players threw beads and footballs to the crowd. The crowd was allowed to touch the Lombardi trophy.
Now that the San Francisco Giants have won the World Series to claim the Major League Baseball championship, their parade was today.
The weather was nice, and it was very crowded; however, no beads. No throwing of anything. No touching of the trophy. Despite this, everyone enjoyed themselves.
My colleague, Gyorgy Ordody, had a better view than Doug Look, Jim Awe, and I did. Gyorgy sent me some pictures.
