Inventor Fusion Technology Preview 4
The Inventor Fusion team has released an update to the technology preview. The new features include:
-
Surfacing support - You can now work seamlessly between solids and surfaces. By enhancing the existing translators to read surface data and adding new parasolid, Rhino, IGES, and AliasDesign .wire file import capabilities, you have access to more design formats.
-
Simplification wizard - You now have one button simplification of designs so simplifying common geometry is fast and easy and ensures that mesh and solves times are as fast as possible.
-
Ease of use improvements - This release includes new marking menus plus sketching and modeling changes that make this release of Inventor Fusion the easiest to use yet.
In addition to the new functionality, the technology preview is now available via the latest streaming technology. What this means is that you can:
- Download a small streaming version of the Inventor Fusion application.
- This download is much smaller than a full download. It also does not require an install.
- As you use the Inventor Fusion Technology Preview, the remaining parts will be downloaded via the streaming process.
- This allows you to start trying technology preview 4 much quicker.
A traditional download and install process is available as an alternative. Actually the Labs download page does a check of your internet connectivity, and users with bandwidth of at least 1.5 mbps are presented with the streaming alternative. With this release, the technology preview is available in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions, so for users with sufficient bandwidth, there are 4 choices:
The Change Manager is an add-on to Inventor itself, so it is not possible to provide this part of the technology preview via the streaming process. So for users who want the Change Manager, a normal download and install is the way to go.
