Sample July Feedback to Autodesk Labs

Autodesk Labs is all about feedback. Every once in a while I get an email that says "I have downloaded the utility from the site. I have been using it. What kind of feedback are you looking for?" To give you an idea as to what others are saying, like what I did for June, here is a sampling of some feedback we got in July.

  I've used Google Earth Extension for AutoCAD to publish KML from DWG file. I want to store this KML (by retrieving the coordinate-series) to a database (Postgis) using PHP-XML DOM. When I checked the KML file, it used tetrahedron type for the coordinate-series. Is it possible to create KML with polyhedron type for the coordinates-series using this extension?

  Great work on the DWF Add-on for Firefox however I have one question. Is there any reason why the following path works OK for IE but not Firefox? I am creating an html index of DWFs that will only ever be viewed on the local network or on a CD. I really don't want to specify the absolute path as it could be anything and it would be great to be able to have it work for both IE and Firefox.

  I've recently sign-up to Autodesk Project Dragonfly. It seems a very good project for us architects, mainly to communicate with clients, because sometimes they have some difficulties understanding our 2D drawings. It's fast and easy to use, congratulations!!! I would like to know if I can import 2D plans from AutoCAD 2009 to Dragonfly?

  I would like to ask about your Project Draw application. Is there any chance that you can customize the application so it can have shape editor and math equation editor as well in it?

  Does Project Freewheel supports embedded URL links to other files like PDFs served on the web within my DWF?

  Feature Recognition is a fantastic tool and really useful, I use it often and frankly I would be a little lost without it at times. I have three questions/requests if you don't mind: Q1) Is it possible to update the icons to higher resolution versions for the ribbon UI (or where are they stored so that one can do it yourself)? Q2) Can you add a return button to the ribbon? Q3) Will this add-in make it the next version of IV?

  Using Inventor Fusion, I'm trying to create a sweep along the top edges of the part shown. I used the Topological Neighbor Selection to select the top edges for the path but I cannot create the sweep. After clicking on the loop option and specifying the Add Boolean I cannot click OK to create the sweep as shown here. What step am I missing?

  When I Activated iCopy in the main assembly and select the assembly within the adaptive skeleton the inventor breakdown. The skeleton is not full constraint. Can you tell me is this a wrong workflow problem or is this a program problem?

  I am an Administrator for Inventor (~ 120 Users). I install the Shrinkwrap Add-In (I do this silent with Install-Parameter /silent) and also I need to display the Shrinkwrap-Toolbar without any User-modification after the installation (e.g. Flag in Toolbar Options).Is it possible to prepare the registry or something else to take effect?

  I am looking at the Sustainable Materials Assistant for IV2010. Reading the pdf that is zipped with the files, I read that carbon data is available on the internet through various sources, could not find, and so am wondering if you could share some of these sites. Thanks in advance.

  Is there a Mac version of the DWG Export for Maya plug-in? I need to export some curves out of Maya, and was told this is the only solution.

  The Solar Radiation Technology Preview for Revit Architecture and Revit MEP seems to respond to project north instead of true north. Obviously only the true north orientation is going to be useful.

  I have been looking into the RDB Link Tool as a way to import some client information into a Revit model. I am able to export and import from a Microsoft Access database. However, running RDB Link in the actual model I want to modify I get the error message in the attached html file. We've tried to clean up any issues in the model that seemed likely causes. We ran the audit, purged, and tried to clean up Warnings that seemed potentially relevant. Are there any suggestions on likely causes and fixes? Any help will be appreciated.

  There is one bit of technology that is needed within the Inventor Drawing Manager environment and which could be provided by Labs - a properties console similar to what is found in AutoCAD.
