I waited in line for an iPhone 3GS today - not for me, but for our daughter who turned 22 last Saturday. It was her birthday present. She recently dropped her Black Jack in the pool. This is tame in comparison to the woman in line ahead of me. She had 4 phones in a beach bag on a trip to the beach with her family. One of her children dumped the bag into the water. In addition to the sand toys, each of the phones made their own splash. She watched it transpire and said it seemed to happen in slow motion.
Though there were people at the front of the line in lawn chairs, I was in a special line of people who had pre-ordered their phones. The whole process took 56 minutes - not bad at all to get a new iPhone 3GS for our daughter. I only have an iPhone 3G. I'll just have to live with iPhone envy (unless I accidentally happen to get near a pool).
