My Visit to Aterra Lighting Design and Controls

Since they are located just 11 minutes from my home, I visited Aterra Lighting Design and Controls. President and CEO, Paul Salmonson, L.C., LEED A.P. was kind enough to be my gracious host. He was interested in the relationship among Autodesk Seek, Project Dragonfly, and Project Showroom. Our vision is that content gets loaded into Seek making it searchable for use by other professionals (e.g. Revit, Inventor) but also by consumers (i.e, Dragonfly). That same content is also used as part of the purchasing process when it is photorealistically rendered in real world settings as part of Showroom.

As part of my visit, I got to see some high tech lighting systems. Paul described the Aterra workflow process where they combine electrical system info from several sources into a single sheet to facilitate the city permitting process. This approach typically reduces inspection time from 3 hours to 45 minutes. Aterra is also interested in Autodesk's green initiatives. Thanks Paul!
