On Thursday Autodesk Labs was involved with the Bloggers Press Event for the AutoCAD 2010 kickoff. Our own John Schmier was on hand to discuss the Autodesk Labs charter and how we do what we do. He also demonstrated some very cool tools. The bloggers got to experience: multi-touch enabled Autodesk Design Review, multi-touch enabled Autodesk Mudbox, augmented reality, Project Showroom, Project Freewheel, Wii Remote, Boom Chameleon, and 3D printing.
The morning was dedicated to the web cast and bloggers discussion forums. By mid morning, Amar Hanspal, Eric Stover, and Heidi Hewett were deeply involved in the webcast for the launch kickoff for AutoCAD.

After the launch webcast and lunch, the bloggers were invited to separate interviewing sessions for the afternoon.

As part of the day, John happened to shoot a short video. Peering outside the Customer Briefing Center window, he spotted a film crew shooting a scene. A mob runs past a security officer who gets taken down by the mob. Funny.

My guess is they were shooting a scene from an upcoming movie. Perhaps more than AutoCAD 2010 will be coming soon to a computer near you? For more information see Shaan Hurley's AutoCAD 2010 Webcast Behind the Scenes.
Lights, cameras, and action are alive in the lab.
