Is there demand for SaaS in the world of CAD?

Andreas Müller of WIN-Verlag GmbH & Co.KG recently asked me:

Is there a demand for CAD-SaaS solutions by customers and enterprises using Autodesk solutions? What's your experience?

It is important to think about the more than a million customers we have on subscription, and the extensions we offer to subscription customers on a regular basis. Other than that, we at Autodesk Labs have found that our SaaS usage is already up from last year. Customers are interested – and actively using our SaaS technology like Project Freewheel, Project Draw, and Project Showroom. People have gone wild over Autodesk Seek. Customers demand things by telling us the problems they have. Some of the problems our customers have are around IT, software deployment, maintaining hardware infrastructure, managing project surges, new pricing models, and more. SaaS is a means to an end – where our end is happy customers.
