Downloading and installing this technology creates a parallel copy of Inventor 2009 where you can try out a new interface. Your existing copy of Inventor 2009 remains unaffected. In the words of Marathon Man, "Is it safe?" Yes, it's safe. This includes Autodesk Inventor Suite, Autodesk Inventor Routed Systems Suite, Autodesk Inventor Simulation Suite, Autodesk Inventor Professional but not Autodesk Inventor LT Technology Preview.
There's a YouTube video that provides an overview of the ribbon interface. A video with a larger screen size is available for your viewing pleasure. The larger screen size allows you to see more of the UI details:

The Ribbon interface of AutoCAD 2009 has been positively received. Some have even lamented that this interface was not incorporated into the original release of Inventor 2009.
