Inventor SP1 not applicable for the Autodesk Inventor LT Technology Preview

In a continuing effort to provide high quality products, earlier this week Autodesk released Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Autodesk Inventor 2008 family of products. With this service pack, Inventor 2008 is now officially supported on Microsoft Windows Vista. Customers can download Service Pack 1 from the Inventor download page.

Autodesk has not announced official support for Windows Vista for the Autodesk Inventor LT Technology Preview at this time. SP1 is not applicable to the Autodesk Inventor LT Technology Preview, and in fact SP1 will not install on top of Inventor LT. Nevertheless, you can install and run Inventor LT on Windows Vista, and you should experience many performance advantages due to Inventor’s well-established support of Microsoft DirectX graphics technology. However, there are certain limitations mostly related to user interface that you may experience. We are working on delivering an even better Inventor LT on Windows Vista experience in the future.
