As a follow up to my Project Freewheel and iPhone: mobile compatibility? post, I got some feedback from one of our Project Freewheel users:
Scott,
I saw the post about the iPhone and Project Freewheel. I just got mine over the weekend, and the http://freewheel.labs.autodesk.com home page never fully loads (even over WiFi) and so I cannot access DWF files through email. Note, I am not looking for resolution here but just thought you might be interested to know whether it works or not.
Cheers
Mark
Thanks Mark for the tip. This is consistent with some other industry reports. The issues are not specific to Project Freewheel since the iPhone is running Safari 2. In addition to execution issues, you can see generic performance numbers for any web-based application on the iPhone in this article on the Ajaxian blog:
The performance issues may be related to the execution issues. We would need to do more testing to determine this. We are keeping our eyes on the iPhone. We can evaluate Project Freewheel and the iPhone as changes to the iPhone (perhaps Safari 3?) are unveiled by Apple. Keeping abreast of the latest web technologies is alive in the lab.
