Autodesk Labs downloads available as ZIP files

When we first released the Autodesk Inventor LT Technology Preview on Autodesk Labs, it was available as an EXE. This allowed people to download and execute the installer; however, some corporate firewalls or other software packages blocked the downloading of EXE files, so we replaced the EXE with a ZIP file. In fact, all of the items available from Autodesk Labs are ZIP files.

Though this move has eliminated the download issue, there can be some problems with Windows XP’s built-in ZIP support specifically with our large ZIP files. For these isolated cases, you can use WinZip. WinZip is available at:

In addition, when unzipping, it is important to remember to preserve the folder structure that is contained in the ZIP file. Following these steps avoids some pitfalls associated with installation. Zipping up files for easy download is alive in the lab.
