Technical Evangelist, Brian Pene, has just launched a new web site.
CADoogle demonstrates the power of Autodesk Freewheel and allows you to search, preview, and download publicly available CAD files indexed by Google. It’s free to use and leverages Google search and Freewheel web services.
For example, from the home page, you enter a text string such as "faucet." CADoogle returns a list of DWF files from the web that contain the word "faucet." CADoogle displays the results using Autodesk Freewheel, so you can see the design instead of just a hyperlink to the design. The results page has three UI elements that allow you to:
- view an HTML version of the design data (so you can see all of the other text in the file),
- download the DWF file, or
- view the DWF file with Autodesk Freewheel in an enlarged window.
These are very handy. The HTML code (that can be copied and pasted) to view the DWF file in your own web site using Autodesk Freewheel is also provided.
Check it out! The combination of easily finding CAD data using search technology and displaying the results without having to install additional software is alive in the lab.
