When people think of Frankenstein, they often think of the picture on the left. But in reality Frankenstein was the name of Dr. Frankenstein - not the monster he created. The creator was confused with his creation. Years ago when people thought of Autodesk, they thought of AutoCAD. Even our stock symbol, ADSK, was originally ACAD. The creator was confused with its creation. |
Although AutoCAD continues to be an important ingredient to our success, Autodesk has over 70 applications in its portfolio such as Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Civil 3D, Autodesk Design Review, and 3D Studio MAX. You can see them on the products page of the Autodesk web site. There are even software as a service offerings such as Buzzsaw, Constructware, and Streamline.
Autodesk Labs continues in this tradition. Technologies like Project Freewheel and Impression have graduated from Autodesk Labs to become Autodesk Freewheel and Autodesk Impression.
