Project Sundance was our free technology preview that allowed you to export the fiber orientation results from your Autodesk Simulation Moldflow simulation and use them to run a nonlinear structural analysis in Abaqus Standard or Explicit. The result for users was a more accurate insight into the behavior and structural performance of short fiber composite parts. Project Sundance was available until October 15, 2014. The technology preview has now ended. Thanks to everyone who participated.
Autodesk Labs is a process.
At the end of a technology preview, one of three things can happen:
- A technology is said to have graduated when the preview ends, and it is available somewhere else (e.g., App Exchange, Subscription Center, feature in a new product offering, new cloud-based service).
- A technology retires from Labs when the preview ends, and users can't get it anywhere. It may come back as another technology preview sometime later. It may show up in a future product offering. It is not necessarily dead, but in the meantime, customers can't get it.
- Sometimes teams decide they need more feedback, so they conduct another technology preview.
In the case of Project Sundance, the technology preview is currently in retirement. The plan is to offer a commercial version in the future, but you know what they say, plans can change. Stay tuned for future developments. I will post something to this blog when new information is available.
Planning is alive in the lab.
