Maya DWG Export Utility Now Available

Menu

We've heard many times that people would like to export a DWG from Maya. Here's your chance.

The Maya team has developed an export to DWG capability. We're happy to share it with you via Autodesk Labs. Autodesk® Maya® software is a powerful, integrated 3D modeling, animation, effects, and rendering solution. To get the DWG export utility:

The utility is available for Maya in both 32-bit and 64-bit flavors. This is part of an envisioned overall workflow of:

  1. Create an initial design expression in Maya.
  2. Export file from Maya to the DWG file format.
  3. Convert DWG™ files to SAT file format (ACIS® Solid) in AutoCAD® 2008 software.
  4. Import SAT file to Revit Architecture 2008 for documentation and inclusion in BIM model.

So try it out and please tell us what you think: labs.maya.dwg@autodesk.com. Connecting the dots between one of our easiest to use modelers and one of our most popular file formats is alive in the lab.
