Humor: Autodesk Labs on the forefront of green innovation

Autodesk Labs is an open space on the 3rd floor of our Civic Center South facility in San Rafael, California. Autodesk Labs is non-conventional even its office layout. Instead of traditional cubicle walls, we use large standing plants to give people their own space while maintaining an "open office."

We find that an open office is so important for the free flow of ideas. So using a few plants instead of walls is actually advantageous. According to Programmer / Software Engineer, Albert Szilvasy (pictured above), the view of the plants is soothing and they generate oxygen vital to the elevated brain function that defines Labs. :-) I am probably the only Autodesk Labs team member to remember Artie Johnson's "Very interesting..." routine from the Laugh-In TV Show.

All of our walls are coated to make them whiteboards. Recall that we use our walls regularly. The innovations shared via Autodesk Labs are made possible, in part, by our commitment to open communication. I guess our use of plants puts us on the forefront of green technology. :-)
